3D Technology ChecklistThis product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires:A DisplayFirst, you'll need a 3D-ready display--whether it's a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession. A SourceYour display may be ready for 3D playback, but you'll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system.3D Content3D content--the actual entertainment, in other words--will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it's a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game.3D GlassesFor now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered "active shutter" glasses, others polarized "passive" glasses. You'll need one pair per viewer, and they'll have to be compatible with your display, whether they're the same brand, or a pair of "universal" glasses designed to work across brands.HDMI CableTo connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality. If you want to get more information about 3D, shop our 3D products, watch videos, or interact with other customers, we invite you to visit 3D 101, our customer center about everything 3D. Internet-Ready Television Internet-ready TVs use your broadband connection to deliver dynamic content, whether it's streaming video from Netflix, new music from Pandora, or a quick glance at today's weather forecast. Manufacturers continue to add new content to their offerings, keeping customers current through firmware updates, and making a bit of research a prudent step in your buying decision. Best TV 2d decent or the worst solution for 120Hz 3DHDTV Jonathan M Osment 30/03/2011 UPDATE: Amazon has removed the label from 240Hz as revenue, but not the "what in the box." As this product is not properly advertised as 120Hz 240Hz, I re-adjust the contrast. WARNING: possible failure of this TV. NOTICE: As of 24/03/2011, I noticed through the Sony Style site they state the EX720 is now only 120Hz, 240Hz is not advertised. I hope it's a typo on the order of the Sony, but if there is a serious case of misleading advertising under way. I have been on the market specifically to buy a 240Hz HDTV, because the price is justified, and therefore can change the level of satisfaction of this review. Before buying this product, make sure you know that there may be a case of false information that takes place the refresh rate. Update: It is confirmed that this is NOT 240Hz HDTV as advertised and 'only 120Hz. The score was set purely marketing, it is false and reveals a slight improvement over previous models that cost far less. One of the main reasons to get an HDTV 240Hz for 3D is that you spot as 120Hz flicker back and forth. If the refresh rate of the TV itself is only 120 Hz, which means you only get 60Hz experience while viewing 3D images. 60Hz is what we are trying to escape. There is absolutely no excuse for misleading advertising, higher costs for features not present. If you try to get a 3D-TV, be sure that it is absolutely 240Hz, or are you just wasting your money. If you want a TV but do not plan to use 3D functionality, then this unit is ok, but there are cheaper and better alternatives in this case. *** Update - Old Review: Sony Bravia HDTV 40EX720 is a decent 3D. I was originally on the market for an HDTV to use that game as a computer monitor / screen and then Sony introduced its line in 2011, CES 2011, I knew I had to get one first thing I can say is that this TV is solid. I was very pleased with the quality of construction (a piece of cheap plastic on the back, but I have yet to find an LED LCD HDTV did not have that feeling). Unlike the previous series HDTVs EX, the notch on the bottom that looks gray in some images is a very dark black. That was really a disappointment for me as I liked the gray band at the bottom, as seen in some photos EX7xx. I love the menu system is a modified version of the menu system in 2010. The 2010 line of Bravia TVs made use of the Playstation 3 and PSP menu to the point where they were virtually identical. The EX720, and I imagine that all models of 2011, chose the menu for PS3/PSP design a more simplified version. It grows in you and in general I find it much more attractive and easier to navigate with the remote control is perhaps the best of this TV has going for it. It has some useful buttons that work better than one would expect. 3D button on the remote turns the TV on stereoscopic 3D, a push every time out. You can see something in 3D Bravia not emulate the 3D effect of 3D content. Other remote control buttons include a rapid change Netflix, online video, Qriocity and a start button is very handy. Internet video works like a charm too. I managed to watch YouTube videos directly from your TV, and browse music libraries online, although there was a (high speed cable) a little slow. Plug a USB drive with some short film work. TV will recognize the USB device and then you can go ahead and access what you want to see or hear from him. There are no built-in television show on video, but there is a music track and a few pictures on TV is not installed automatically dead pixels. The lighting is even across the entire screen. Great black levels. Semi-Glossy screen (a mixture of brilliant.
